| Denmark’s excellent broadband infrastructure has helped to propel the country to have one of the highest broadband penetration levels in Europe. All platforms are available, though ADSL has a larger footprint than cable. A notable development in 2005 and 2006 has been the migration of subscribers to fast broadband plans. Fixed Wireless Access licences were issued at the end of 2000, and a number of WLAN hotspots were launched in 2002. Competition has driven growth, and has helped drive down broadband prices, which remain relatively high. | By early 2005 broadband growth in Italy was among the fastest in Europe. There are extensive DSL and cable networks, and increasing emphasis on greater access speed, which will be the foundation for the country’s take up of triple play offerings in 2006 and 2007. Fibre is also extensive in densely populated cities, and has provided for some of Europe’s most mature IPTV offerings.
